RPM 2025
I like the RPM challenge. The idea is to record and release something in February. I’ve got FAI this month, which is a big chunk of my February time, not just the travel time, but also the prep time so I knew I couldn’t sign on for a full album or EP. I figured I’d do a single with a b-side. In discussion for what this could be (I was thinking Graham Crackers) the two song idea grew into a 3-4 song EP. I scheduled some extra streams in order to do the recording. Day one and two I worked on click tracks for Graham Crackers and Sprocket. It was obvious to me that I would not have time to record the whole EP during my limited February time. I considered just recording Graham Crackers (my original plan) but, as silly a song as Graham Crackers is, I want a fairly straight up guitar bass and drums recording, and somewhat slick as I want to pitch it to radio etc.
RPM is not the time for this recording.
I wanted a single I could be free and silly with. So on Wednesday I threw all that out the window and began recording The Universe According to David. A much better RPM choice. Days 1 and 2 felt like a slog. Day three I got back to the whole have fun bit. My central point for 2025. I in fact am having so much fun, that I’m considering adding a weekly recording stream to help me get music recorded on the regular. I could have better sound for my music videos. I could be filming guitar with the go pro while I do it. Condensed recording videos would also be interesting. Stay posted for more thoughts on this.
Meanwhile, recording continues live on my Twitch Channel.
